In the latest issue of Tokyo Weekender, we put a spotlight on the Isumi region, a lush, coastal area on Chiba’s eastern coast. To many, Isumi is synonymous with the ocean: pristine beaches, surf culture and exceptional seafood. But that’s only half the story. Venture further inland, and you can explore the richly forested Yoro Valley, with its hiking trails, waterfalls and legendary hot springs resorts.

There’s much to discover in the area — seaside shrines and jagged inlets, legendary surf spots, waterfall hikes, high-end onsen retreats and distinctive local food culture that brings together the flavors of land and sea.

To give our readers a chance to experience the region for themselves, we’re partnering with Chiba Prefecture to offer two readers one ¥40,000 gift card each. These can be used at facilities operated by the Hanashibuki Group, which operates several hot-spring inns, luxury villas, and dining spots in Chiba, including the Shinra Yoro Valley, which we featured in the magazine. The gift card is valid at the group’s seven ryokan and hotels, as well as its two restaurants.

To enter the giveaway, please read our article series on Isumi:

Next, take our survey about your impressions of Isumi. The two winners will be chosen at random from among the respondents and receive a Hanashibuki Resort & Company gift card valued at ¥40,000.
